First Christmas

We had a wonderful first Christmas with Elizabeth. We celebrated Christmas Eve here at home with John's brother Mark, his girlfriend Josie and Mimi (John's mom). We woke up Christmas day here in Monroe to have our family time together as we opened gifts. Santa sure took care of Elizabeth. We need more kids so she won't get so spoiled. Then we were off to Gammy's (Carrie's mom) for Christmas with the Hensons in Mooresville, where we were joined by my brother and his wife Summer along with our niece - Sophie Ruth. Below is a shot of my immediate family!

My mom had a special day with her two grandaughters. Sophie Ruth (1 year 6mo) and Elizabeth Faith (3months).

We also got to visit with other family in Mooresville for lunch and spent a peaceful evening with mom in Mooresville. The next day we were off to Asheboro - John's hometown, to visit with the Hardin family. This is the phenomenon known only to Randolph county. John's family is HUGE! After that we took time to visit with John's dad, Pop and Rosemary.

Of course we stayed at Mimi's (John's mom). She beamed at having her first granchild to celebrate Christmas with.

We were all so glad that Mark and Josie could join us this Christmas since they live in Oregon. Elizabeth doesn't get to see Uncle Mark often so it was a real treat to have them down. It was no treat for John to get up at 4am to take them back to the airport but we are family and that is what we do.

Of course the greatest gift of all this Christmas is the gift of our Lord Jesus Christ who came to a lost world to free us from slavery to sin. When I reflect on his birth I think of Mary. What must it have been like to look into the eyes of your first born and know that this is not only your son but your Savior. I look at Elizabeth and see how precious and special she is, but this feeling can't compare to holding God's son in your arms!! Our favorite gift for 2007 is pictured below in a bow... duh, our baby girl!

Merry Christmas and Happy New year!!
